The goal of the Pre ESCAP conference WAIMH Training Institute is to disseminate the actual scientific knowledge about Infant Mental Health, and its close links to later child and adolescent psychopathology, beyond our public of infant mental health professionals. Indeed, we still hear very commonly the comment "you can't examine an infant, because he does not speak", or "you don't need to see him, just his parents, he does not understand", and so on... This is in spite of the impressive bulk of knowledge about continuities of psychopathology from infancy into adulthood, of which the evidence-proved link between disorganized attachment in infancy and borderline personality disorders in adulthood is one example.

This 4 hours training institute will focus on assessment, treatment and preventive intervention in infant mental health, as the first step in dealing with psychopathology.
